The story of avoidance (and a vlog)
MONDAY 27 JULY 2026
I finally got around to editing a vlog after a long and unplanned hiatus from YouTube. I don't want to give it all away here, but it's about why I haven't spent much time on this here "project".
However, in case it's not clear, I unfortunately tend to choose the safe path in most things I do. If I didn't, this may not just be a whenever-I-get-to-it project, but life. Maybe, maybe not. But the problem persists, and it is a problem.
As noted in the video, there's also something driving me to choose tasks that are more likely to pay off which, if we're honest, is how most of the world operates. Unless your music/art/craft is the thing you confidently perform best at, have super easygoing parents, have a network or connections, simply couldn't imagine living any other way, or maybe have the luxury of trying until you make it, most human beings choose the safe path in life rather than risk suffering or struggling more than they need to. And I'm no different. I even chose accounting before computer science. Yep. It was awful, the work, the month-end hours, the slow climb to better roles and salaries - all crap in my opinion, but no offence if that's your thing, just respect.
Anyhow, along with the recent culling, I'm doing my best to change things at a personal level, ignore the AI bullsh*t, not get worked up about the state of the world and people, mentally resist being dragged into the depressing depths of the colder and shorter winter days here in Melbourne, and squeeze in a bit of this project into every week at least, so please stay tuned...
